A better explaniation of WHAT your painting would help.
Are you doing the whole vehicle with the base&kandy with just the flames being ghost? If so,Then do the base, kandy, inter coat clear or regular clear if you don't have it and scuff in 24 hrs if using regular clear coat. Tape out the flames and mask, shoot the pearl ghost flames with a final coat of just clear. |

The ghost flames are the last graphic you do.
That's why they call them ghost. You shoot anything besides clear over them and they disappear as they are just a pearl effect anyway. You'll need to shoot some test panels over your color scheme to get the right amount of "ghosting" your wanting. |

there are a couple different ways to ghost. one is to shoot a very light coat of pearl on so its only visible when the sun reflects on the paint surface or you can paint a graphic then candy over it. both give a completely different effect but either way is considered ghosting because its a very subtle effect and you need to look for it to see. if you want the effect that you showed me in the pics then follow the directions i gave you the other day. paint the flames as you see them in the example pics you posted using the gold pearl in some sg100 then unmask and candy the whole whole thing. airbrush the gold pearl heavy on the edge and fades into the center. pull a small piece of your masking back when you think your done and check the contrast between the black base and the flame. how bold you make the flames is up to you. you should always shoot a test panel or two until you get the effect you want.

Hey, No cheating allowed.
A picture is worth a paint job. Yes a light kandy is cool but the laying of heavy pearl on the perimeter and fading.... KILLER!!! Never thought of that. mrcleaner6 is the MAN. |
