I can hardly see the flames. They must be close to the same color then.I got color diffusion (I have a hard time telling colors apart if they are really close to the same shade).Looks good from what I can see though.

ps Guess I better not tell my work or els they might not let me paint any cars

I updated the above pics to some outside I took today.

Neil, not being able to see them easily is the idea. You are right about the colors. I just accented with red and blue pearl which the purple already contains. In the shade they dont show. They only show when the lights hits just right. They just kindof jump out in the corner of your eye when you walk by and then you back up and you can see them. You have to look at different angles to see the whole pattern. It actually goes to the bottom of the truck, but I could not pic it up with the camera.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I hope it causes some double takes. I remember the first ones I saw. I just thought it was the coolest damn thing I had ever seen. Ever since then I have wanted to do some on a project, so I did.

Thanks on the paint. I am very pleased, and I am pretty damned picky.

It will be a single turbo sbc 408. The motor will make between 600 and 800 HP depending on boost levels. I have will put a couple pics on picturetrail.com of the turbo being fabbed up. I have since disassembled everything for coating and machine work. If you click here you can see them.

I am building the bottom end to handle 1000HP in hopes of getting this thing in the 8's some time in the next couple of years. Some heads and a larger turbo will get it there pretty easy. Ought to be a hell of a ride.

I did the base coat, masked the flames, shot pear/clear mix over the masked areas, and then unmasked and cleared everything.

Hay Turbos10 the flames look good, did you use a different or darker shade to get the ghost effect?

I used red pearl for the flame body and blue for the tips. Not really darker or lighter. It just accents the purple to make it look a little different color.

Chris,
I must say - that is one sweet ride you have there. How long did it take you to get the flames "just right" when you were taping it off?
The end result is very nice.

I'm thinking about copying your idea now when the time comes to squirt some color on the camaro. I've always liked the way pearl shows up. (Although, I plan on keeping the colors close to the pearl thats on my t-bird. Blue and purple.)

Wanna come paint my car? LoL.

Seriously, nice job.

Michael,

I did the flames on my computer first. I free handed one side off of the computer print out. Then I took a digital pic and mirrored it for the other side and reprinted. It took me about an hour to tape both sides, and 2 more to mask it.

Chris , I looked at the pictures of the engine and I wanted to know about the headers. Those look wild, just wanted to know where they are going and how they will get hooked up. Post some more pictures when you start hooking up the engine and components.
Its looking good i wish I had taken more of mine when I was doing all of the fabing for the BB.
