Hi all....I think this is my first post. Awesome site. Im going to attempt ghost racing stripes and have read posts non-stop for a day or 2. Here is my plan and I have 2 questions after that. Thanks! Much appreciated!

Im going to base then
intercoat over the base then
mask for the stripes
shoot intercoat w/pear where the stripes will be then
pull masking then
clear (urethane) everthing

My questions are :

1. Is the pearl clear or do you use a tinted pearl to get the ghost effect?
2. Do you pull the masking and start clearing all over as soon as you shoot the pearled intercoat on the area that is to be the stripes?

Your post proves it sure pays to read! Your plan is fine. The pearl will be in powdered or liquid form-either will work. Add it to your intercoat clear and spray the stripes. Allow it to flash off and remove the masking. Check the car over to make sure it is clean. Sometimes you'll find some masking residue that need to be cleaned off-dampen a towel with some solvent based wax and grease remover and it should take off any residue or finger print smudges made during the masking. Then use a tack rag over the whole car lightly and apply your topcoat clear. Post some pics when you're done. Bob

he is right but i highly highly recomend doing it on a test panel the first, not so much that your going to mess is up the the effect that your looking for you will not have to put much on to get what your looking for and most people put it on to heavy the first time. your also going to know what peral (spelling ya i know but i do body work not teach eng) your going to use there are lots of different colors and effects out there. so can even change your color to make it look like piss so test it out do it once and do it rigth..... good luck

Thanks, awesome. As far as pulling the masking after shooting the pearl, or the over all clear for that matter, Ive read to pull it anytime from when it flashes off, til 4-6 hours later....Thats the last thing Im unsure of. Thanks again.

Unmask your stripes after the intercoat flashes off, unmask the car after the majority of your colorsanding and buffing is done-if needed.
