Gift horse or pigs ear

Well, I mentioned a While back that I was bidding on an "82 Firebird" for my wife for a new project. Its out of Colorado! And we take possession next week! It includes 2 large boxes of extra parts + an extra set of aluminum rims.

We got it for $2500.00 (YES TWENTY FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS) I call that a gift horse (site unseen) We saw only pictures of the car!! Here are the pics Bellow My eyes aren't working so good (I need Cataract surgery) I know the car has T tops I can see that but can't tell what front end that is it looks odd too me for an 82 LOL ? The car is now 40 miles from my home in free indoor storage till the weather clears and I can pick it up So I will post pics of what the car looks like when I get it to see if I really get the gift horse or the pigs ear LOL! I figure $2500 was a good gamble!! My wife saw the car and says it looks just like the pics we have, So I'm excited to see it when we get it home

It is supposed to have new posi and 3.73 gears ,2500 stall, new high performance valve body, and What they tell me is a mystery cam ( They don't know the specs)LOL ! They tell me I cant drive it in the snow or ice because it shifts so hard !! The roads are terrible here so I won't take the chance of driving it home in this weather!

The paint looks darn nice that's for sure. They must have taken care of it as the interior looks good too and even the doors jams are really clean. You can tell when a person goes to that much effort to clean a car they must at least care a little bit. Unlike a lot of stuff I see people selling.

If it's as nice in person as it looks, you bought a nice car.

It looks like it has a 91 92 front + rear and formula ground effects? and an 82 Trans Am Hood? I'm also getting the rear deck louvers he didn't install yet!
The engine is a 305, + reworked Quadrajet! With just a cam change! I may play with the 305 and see what H.P. I can get out of it even though its limited and the wife can keep it for a summer weekend car! I have a couple of tunnel rams and carbs, and a 471 supercharger (put away) I used to run in the 60s on a 327 so I can play around with the Firebird 305 before We decide if to swap it!

She has the 79 Camaro to drag and go to shows with and I have the 77 Vette I screw around with and show!

Ive only built for power on 1st + 2nd Generation Camaros and Firebirds so the suspension upgrades needed will be a learning curve? That's If the wife wants to go for real Power? or just keep it basically pretty with mild upgrades and looks and street performance? I haven't seen the undercarriage to know if it has already been upgraded at all or not?

looks like a 92 not 82 lol

bumber covers ar '92 tail lights 82-84,center console is 85 up.. gauge cluster looks 82-84 nice car.. want a spare set of gauges for that.. car.. when you get it home. look at the headlight motors.. the 82 would have a knob to manually open them that's about the size of a gatoraid bottle cap, the newer 2nd gen motors will have a knob that looks like a thimble.. the 1st gen use 3 wires the 2nd gen use 2, iirc the 2nd gen came on line about '86

My '82 was red with a crossfire efi and a stick

Yea, I Thought about a scam, But for 2500 it was worth the gamble ! Ive Been under the weather for a long time ( felt like deaths door LOL) and had the car put in a friends storage unit and my wife and a good friend of mine went and looked at it and said its a good looking car! They took pics but the pole barn was too dark and they didn't turn out, They told me the tail lights are different then the pics (they are blacked out and smooth) And my buddy ( a body man) looked for frame damage but saw none visible, He did say it was a repaint (complete) and a really nice job! The rear bumper cover is Fiberglass!! And there is a 1 inch tear on the top of the rear seat !

There is 3 ft of snow and ice in front of the pole barn so it won't be leaving there soon, and I'm too weak right now to go see it myself but I figure in a week (I will be stronger) and we can go get it and it will finally be in our possession and I can get my hands dirty and check the thing out in my own garage and I can take some pics and post them here!! Its a bummer the car sets 40 miles from here and I can't leave the house ( my better half won't let me!! WOMEN )

He was listing the car for 5500 on the internet and he had no buyers I E mailed and called and offered 3500 and he turned me down a few weeks later it was still for sale so the wife called and talked for HRs. to his wife LOL (it was her car) and she sold my wife the car for 2500 I don't understand it !!!My wife can get away with this all the time Like at swap meets, I will Offer 100 dollars for an intake and be turned down and 10 minutes later my wife will talk them into selling it to her for half of what I offered I don't understand how women can do that LOL But its great that they can!!!

Jester

the tail lights now in it are mostlikely '85 up , or just has the smoked aftermarket covers on it.. the ones that would go with that bumber are somewhat like these but the turn signal is yellow/orange
