What I see in the world today is a lack of belief in a higher power. Society today does not see the need to have compassion for the people they come in contact with on a day to day basis. They tend to only consider their own personal wants and needs.

It is sad to see the world going in this direction. There is a lot of joy that comes from believing in a loving God and trying to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. The friends and relationships that are developed along the way are priceless also.

My words of wisdom would be that the Scripture says we were created for God's pleasure and we should try to live every minute of every day in a way that we feel would be pleasing to him.

true, sadly it'll take something big on our soil to get this back.. as we as a country have been spoiled.. no one cares about anyone else..
as long as I'm doing good, I don't care if another 50000 jobs go overseas because I'm a cheap bastard.. it's been like this for a long time.. and it's gonnna take something BIG to change this path of helping/caring for others... and I'm afraid it will happen soon.. it's much needed and we'll be much better off as a country for it.. but it's gonna be hell getting there.. and many people that think they are owed something.. either because of history or because they payed taxes while working are in for one big shock..
to many in this country have made being a GOD fearing person a sin..
when the world economy finally fails, and people have to go back to village living with barter and trade, and help one and other.. the light bulb will go off.. sadly it's gonna take this for people to wake up..

Carl Sagan once said, “We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever."

I think that sums it up quite nicely for me.

I don't think Americans can handle that. I never felt the need for a gun but what you are describing would make me go buy one. Sorry, I just don't have that faith in people anymore. The scene you are describing in my mind would bring out something like the Rodney King riots.

Especially when we are younger and feel we are invincible, life teaches use that the longer we live the more mortal we become, and start to appreciate the fact that we aren't nearly what we thought we where.

Good point Valkyrie This quote is along the same lines, the harder I seen to work, the more lucky I become.

Thanks John I'm not religious at all and feel that religion is flawed because Religion is man made and anything man made is flawed. I am however Spiritual and believe in a superior being, one that does look over all of us and asks for very little...the rules of life aren't hard, they are basically spelled out in the commandment. I always say, life is the easiest thing that we go through, it's just people that get in the way. In my experience the churches have taken what they feel God has intended for us and how we need to adhere to what the churches tell you in order to get to a final goal. The problem for me is that what the doctorin is man made not God made. My belief in God is strong, and always has been. I thank you for the post...it needs to be said.

Best Regards John

Ray

words of wisdom

Here are a couple of my favorites. " if you want to get rid of an @$$hole, lend him $50.....best money you ever spent, you'll never see him again! ......God must love @$$holes, cause he sure made a lot of 'em......Don't argue with an idiot.....people watching won't be able to tell the difference. And an old classic.....It's better to be thought of as a fool, than open your mouth & remove all doubt. I try to live by these rules, not successfully, sometimes, but I try !!!!
