giving a severe haircut

i just did some swapping and ended up with a 52 chevy 2 door. its about right for a traditional custom, done right. my question is, has anyone ever tried to teach another person to chop tops?
i wnat to do it myself, and whack it about 5 inches, but ive never even thouht about doing anything like this. i can weld, and cut, but its going to be a lot more involved than that, and i dont want to ruin the car. i also dont have the money to pay someone to do it, and i want to learn all the custom tricks, but i need someone to teach me.
so i guess my question is, would there be anyone willing to teach me how to chop a top? im in boone, which is right on the north carolina tenessee border.
if no one can teach me, is there any manuals or videos that i can look at to et a good idea and go from there? also, will 5 inches be enough to get the right proportions?
thanks guys

There are quit a few rod builders and restorers in your area. I know a lot of them and most would welcome you in there shop for some advice. The paint jobber in Boone---High Country Paint-
Stop in and talk to Billy or Tommy the owners and they can steer you in the right person to see in that town.
One guy "Leroy" about 40 years old and only been doing this work for 10 years is in Sparta about 30 minutes from you and this guy is a master and I know would help you out.
Your in a great area to learn as this town has so many skilled shops they draw cars in from all over the country to redo.
I did a class for the painters in that area about two months ago
and these guys had projects from CA, WA, VT one had a rare GT Mustang from Canada that was going to be $80,000-90,000 job when done.
