GM 10066036 Crate Engine

I purchased the crate engine, I am wondering what type of Cam does it contain. I also, would like to install a mild cam, although I am not knowledgable on what I should install. I only want more horsepower and a good sound. Does anybody have any suggestions. Thanks... :

Which engine is that? I looked in my 2008 Catalog and didn't see that part number listed.

I can try to get you an answer on what it has in it.

More HP? good intake and carb , headers and duals + cross ( H ) pipe . ....Sound? Good mooflers. Flowmaster ,Thrush , Purple hornies , etc. , etc ....
If you don't know a lot about internals of an engine , use caution when you go in . It's not hard to put something in wrong.
If you really MUST change the "factory" cam that is probably in that crate , call up Crane cams and tell them what vehicle you have and what you want to use it for. They'll be glad to help you.

its the gm target master, made in mexico, it has 72 cc heads, 4 valve releif dished low compresion pistons if it is like the one i had. i dont know what cam it has. mine needed rebuilt so its getting bored and getting diff. heads and pistons and cam per double_v23 suggestions.

found some specs on the one i have,

8.5:1 cr,cast dished pistons,hydraulic flat tappet cam .383/401 lift and 112 lobe seperation,cast iron76 cc cylinder heads,4qt. oil pan.

the high out put version says it has everything as above but the cam change they show is .222/.222 dur. at .050, .450/.460 lift.

I believe that number is the casting number on the back of the block which is a 4 bolt block 2 peice rear seal made in Mexico.

You've got the bargain basement Mr. Goodwrench for pre 1985 models with a two piece main seal. While often reputed to have 4 bolt mains, you need to look inside for confirmation.

What can you do to it? Read these.
