Gm 4l60e

Hey guys, what is the difference betwee a converter for a 4l60e abd a 4l60, would an aftermarket converter (tci streetfighter) designed for a 98 and up ls1 work properly in front of a 4l60 (87 700r4 non CC) with a brake switch lockup kit?

No... the LS1 4.8 - 5.3 engine design converter will not fit an early 4L60 trans. GM reconfigured the splines - input shaft , stator support of the trans in an LS1 motor application.

IF you have a 1998 5.7 liter motor - regular 350 chevy design engine with a distributor , the converter is the old design and will backwards fit an early non electronic trans.


LS1 design 4L60E trans input shaft has splines at the end..... early design tranny shaft has a smooth stub with O-ring on it at the end.
