GM 4L60E transmissions...Are they any good?

I was going to rebuild my TH350, but I would like to convert to an auto trans. I'm swapping an '87 305 with a '96 350 in my '87 SWB P/U. I figured it may make sense to keep the OD trans as well. (I think its a 4L60E??) Will these transmissions stand up to some fair horsepower & torque? (up to 400hp @450lbs well, I like to dream anyway...)

Thanks,

Gear.

the 4L60E is the same as a 4L60/ 700r4 tranny hard parts wise. A few changes / updates to the hard parts , not much.

the 4L60E is full electronic control , which I believe you know.

Same basic items to beef up in the L60E tranny as a 700r4 . A TransGo HP shift kit works well in the 4L60E.
