gm 8.5" 10 bolt question
k guys, i got some answers to my last thread but they more or less confused me..so i'll be more specific...i took the rear end apart in my 79 trans am 8.5" posi, i counted the gears, it is a 2.73:1..now i bought a rear end from the junk yard from a 79 camaro, 8.5" posi, it is a 3.08:1.... now here is where im confused, is the 2.73:1 a 2 series carrier or a 3 series carrier? and did i buy the junkyard rear end for nothing?? and will 3 series ring and pinion gears, ie. 3.42, 3.73, fit on a 2.73:1 series carrier?
