GM 8-pin module

Do different 8-pin modules advance diffidently? I am running SBC with a dist with an 8-pin mod and it only has a single advance because it is looking for an ECM to tell it, but i have a carb, no FI and no ECM because an ECM needs FI and a bunch of sensors. Can I get an 8-pin with more than one advance in it or can I buy an aftermarket computer that does nothing but just advance the ignition?

... or is there any way that I can run a gm 8-pin-remote-coil dist and still get advance without running FI?
