GM 8-Track restoration, finish help!

I have an original GM 8-Track tape player, made in 1969 and was an option for the Chevelle, Impala and I think Nova. Anyway, I have the case apart, stripped and ready to refinish. I have done numerous searches on line for these units and have found many different finishes, all black paint, all chrome and/or polished. I believe the correct finish would be wrinkle painted case, and mounting bracket, with the face chrome. Reason is, the face plate is chrome plated plastic, no reason for GM to paint this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Doc here,

If you strike out..or decide to farm it out..

Try here:

radio and gauge restos

You could ask what they use...Or just send them the finish pieces..
