Maybe cheesy is a bit harsh, but it's the same kind of stamped steel/no paint/cheapest bidder type parts that the US automakers have used to max the profit margin for many years.
BTW, that is the same type booster used for millions of domestic vehicles, not just corvettes. The only real difference is packaging. So we're all in the same boat.
