GM Goodwrench 350 overheating
Hello. I am new to these forums. Not quite sure how to use it. But I have a chevy 350 crate motor in an 87 toyota pickup that will not run cool. I just read the thread about Jeff79 having issues with his back in "09. Did he ever get it resolved?. I have tried all the same stuff. Timing, water pump new plus correct rotation, three different t-stats 160-195, new hoses, 3 1969 fj40 radiator, Two pusher electric fans, V-Belt system, New guages, Infrared temp checks along with digital thermometers, Water pump seems 1:1 ratio with crank, manually checked TDC on Crank pulley, Set timing to 10 degrees as instructed. Flushed engine. This engine will climb temperatures sitting still or driving. Does better driving it seems as long as I am going down hill, light cruise, on cool eve. Coming back, It will get start About 190 and get to 215. Then I pull into house and it climbs to 225, and I shut it down. It gets hot enough to make the fuel boil in the carbureator. Any thoughts. I am extremely frustrated. thanks

Thanks for the info. Just bought the biggest aluminum radiator I can fit in there. I will keep you posted. I am also switching intakes from no rear coolant cross over to one that crosses over. Will need to do some mods. Will let you know tomorrow night. Thanks again.

Absolutely. I have a 3000 cfm. Used as push and pull with correct fan blade reversal and polarity switched. No difference on the cooling though. Will let u know tomorrow how it went. I have alot of experience with vehicles. I am a master ase certified tech and a Toyota master technician of 12 years. I've seen alot. This one has me completely stumped. I appreciate any info you guys may have. maybe I should go back to school!

After an all day event of fabricating in a new aluminum radiator and a different intake manifold with rear coolant cross over in the intake, I think I got it! I am now cooling at 180 at idle/2500 rpm at stand still and did not overheat. I have to finish a few small things in the morning, then test drive. If everything goes good, I will give you guys pics and all part numbers involved to fix these things. Big thanks to bogie for the radiator info.

overheat
If you used your own intake manifold and depending on the year, type engine, it is possible the intake gaskets are wrong and it will never cool.
