GM sterring column ID

I'm working on the steering in my 34 ford and noticed that there was a fair bit of play in the GM steering column shaft at the bottom end, I took off the U joint and took apart the clip, cap and guts of the column and all that was in there was a nylon adapter, no bearing? Does any one have an idea what year this column might be so I can get parts. It has tilt, column shift, and ignition.
Thanks for any help.
