Post gm truck rear end

my son and i are buying a 1972 chevy 1/2 ton truck. it has a 12 bolt rear end my ? is . are 12 bolt rear ends posi track. i dont know anything on gm rear ends but what i heard that 12 bolt rear ends were posi tracks. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

im not 100% if all of them were. Can you jack up the rear end, if so see if the tires will spin, if they spin the same way then its posi, if 1 goes the other way its open. OR if you can hold 1 tire and have someone else spin the other one (kinda hard) it is posi....i think, GL or you could always replace your rear end fluid and just look at the differential.

If your behind the On the right side of the axle there will be the code look good and post them on this set .I have a book all rear end chevy 60 to 79 What did the truck come out with factory . I can help you.

actually, the code is usually found on the FRONT side of the axle tube.

I found the right numbers on the GM 12 bolt rear end, out of a '71 C10 pickup. Here they are as follow; NF3898838. If anyone might have some information for me it would be appreciated. I think it's Posi but I want to be sure, I'd rather not have to open it up but I may end up doing so. Thank you all for your replies.
