the light in cab is not turning off, it is draining the batterie,
I removed the Fuse something is still draining the batterie, I check both doorswitches they OK. I bought a new batterie and the altenator have been checked. What could the problem be and where else should I check.
start by diconnecting the batt , neg cable , then hook up a test light on one end of the cable and the other on the neg terminal of the batt the test light should be very very dimm if not start pulling fuses until it is very dimm or out, remember to have the door jam switch closed or you'll never find it. when thew light goes out find out what is on that circuit and start disconnecting them , then reinstall the fuse ,too see if you found the power drain
it also might be the head light switch , the reostat for the dome light might be turn on or it might be bad.
i know what your problem is but i can't remember the name of the part.
look up under the dash, next to the colum and there is a black plate. on top of that plate there is a black plastic box with a single 8 or so wire plug going into it. pull it out (its kinda a bit*h) by removing the bracket. and take it up to GM and have them tell you what it is and get you a new one. i think its about a $30 part.
now if this isn't the problem, don't get mad just take it back.
i am about 80% sure thats your problem.
please keep me posted. Aaron
I took my truck to the shop ($50.00 just to check it)
(catering truck, got to get it back on the road to make money)
First they told me it was the batterie I knew that already (because something was training the batterie) so I took the old one back to Advance Auto where I bought the batterie 6 months ago they gave me a new one so I put it in same problem, so I took my Truck back to the GMC repair.
Well they told me what was wrong with it (some kind of sensor
I will pick it up today ($180)
sorry about the caps but most newbies that come on the board do not come back and tell you what happened after you try and help.
thanks Aaron
