gmc 3500 rebuild

ok so i have a 99 gmc k3500 with a sb 350 235k miles on the original engine and tranny its starting to burn oil i figure its time for a rebuild.. but here is the question being its a fuel injected computer operated engine if i raise the compression and change the cam does the computer has to be reprogrammed. what else can i do to add a little more towing power
