GMC 6 cyl engine interchange

Does anyone know if the Chevy/GMC 6 cyl engines 250 Ci or 302 CI will bolt to the 4 speed transmission of a 1959 GMC 1/2 ton pickup currently with a 235 in it?

No!
You need a different bell housing, flywheel for the 250.

I was afraid of that

I was afraid of that. Do you know if the bell housing from a 3 speed will do the job, or do we need to find a 4 speed one?

IF you are ONLY talking about the transmission bolting to the bellhousing, then yes it will. UNLESS it's the real early (49'-50' back?), torque tube type transmission, and even then, some of them will bolt on also. The bellhousing to engine is a completely different situation, as the later 194-215-230-250-292 engines had the V-8 pattern we're all used to; the 216-235-261 and 248-270-302 GMC are the same pattern wise, but won't bolt to the V-8 pattern (or late six). I "think" that's correct (?). Butch/junior stocker. What are the years you're dealing with?
