GMC Transmission Problem

Hello All. New to the site, very good answers I have seen. I have a 700R4 GMC transmission. All I have is Low gear and reverse. I have read it is likely solenoid in transmission. Anyone out there experienced these problems?

year of vehicle / trans? Mileage ?

If you have a TV cable on this trans have you checked that for proper operation & adjustment?

Could be a broken governor gear.

I'd be inclined to go with the governor. You can usually pick one up for around 10$ used at most transmission shops and it is probably the quickest and least invasive thing to check. Brian

Many Thanks

Removed the governor gear and 3 teeth gone and valve was stuck shut. $15 for the entire assembly and shifts fine. Thank you for replying
