God Help Me!!!!!

Is it just the holidays or is it just me? Every year I always intend to shut my shop down around December 15th until the New Year. This year I am planning to leave for California so we can visit my wife's father. In years past, I can never get it all done, so I just wind up staying home.

It always seems that when I want to prepare to go somewhere, everything falls apart. Things start breaking down, my wife won't get out of bed, do the dishes or do the laundry, let alone prepare for the trip.

Along with that, I am trying to make sure all of the finances are in order, but low and behold, my customers are all suddenly "broke", and cannot afford to pay their bills.

Before I leave in two weeks I have to do the following:

1.Put in a new engine in our own personal car (99 Chevy Lumina) because it blew up.

2. Finish building a 400 small block for a customer on the east coast and dyno.

3. Prep two sets of double hump heads and one set of vortec heads.

4. Change the evaporator coil in a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

5. Troubleshoot a Mazda Melinia with Supercharger as it won't run right.

6. Do all manner of mindless crap for the townsfolk because they are all in a quandry as well as broke. Change their oil, fix their tires, listen to them cry about being broke and watch them try to slip out the front door without paying.

7. Figure out what to do with the small pet store my wife has assembled in my house over the last few years while I am a gone.

8. Deal with my mother-in-law's current nervous breakdown and subsequent DUI arrest, as well as her boyfriend troubles.

9. List a bunch of other parts on Ebay so I can continue to make money while I am gone.

10. Buy chrismtas presents for everyone and their dog.

Merry Friggin Christmas

trip

What i have found out over the years is that things will take care of them selves.....

When i was ready to book the trip to utah for cylinder head school the begining of this year i had the same deal. But i went ahead and booked the trip and it all worked out... i had a ton of stuff to catch up on when i got home, but everyone lived....

Don't get to the end of your life and look back on the " i should have done that days" Life is way to short and people will wait!!!!! Go on the trip and have fun!!!!

If you make it and are going to be on I-40 through Arizona let me know. Maybe meet up for a meal or something. Or if you have car trouble I am close to exit 48. Be willing to offer any help if you need it.

Something happy to think about...

Have you started to plan for your retirement?? It's NEVER to soon to start. Just the other day my wife told me she thought I should retire the first of next year. She has been looking at our finances and we no longer need two large incomes!!! That means I can take an early retirement when Ford offers them in January!!!

You got that right, I would be making my own plans for the holidays!
Screw her mother and her boyfriend as hopefully you did not marry them also?
What state are you in?

Anyways NAIRB, thanks you cheered me up as you made my problems look small. A month of having sex with the Fire Marshall is really nothing compared to yours! I'll just go buy more Vaseline.

Merry Christmas!

Nairb, it sounds like you need to escape. Pack the car, tell the wife you're leaving at a certain time and then leave, with or without her. Send the guys with the hairy knuckles around to anyone giving you a problem while you're gone, alibi time. Where in Ca. are you headed? Maybe we can see you while you're here. Get busy and screw the rest of them, there's ne bigger business than a guys' vacation. Dan

Well,

At least I have my health. I've been so stressed out about it all, I just said to heck with it and went home early today. I did find that my dog had went on a rampage and destroyed the house. He took my hamster cage off of the table, dragged the cage into the living room and ate half of the hamster. Animals can be gruesome.

Anyway, I'm going to go watch the Hopkins - Taylor fight tonight, draw up a new game plan and get a new attitude come Monday morning.

Easy Solution:

1.) Tell your customers that owe you, that you will be leaving town 3 days before you actually leave. Tell them that the cars will be stored inside the building or offsite storage until after you get back. They will need to square up with you before you leave, or they pay the storage fees.

2.) Tell the wife if she isn't ready, she ain't going, and that you will go to Vegas instead. You don't need as much money to buy you love there !

3.) Animals: She gets to take care of them, while your looking over the merchandise at The Chicken Ranch in Vegas

4.) Jack Daniels, only in copious quantities......
(SoCo & Lime , in extreme cases)
