Going for satin/hot rod black...what base under PPG 2060?
So I know this topic has been beat to death but I'm purchasing paint this week hopefully for a project I've been working on. I want a satin/flat black finish. I don't want it dead flat and rough like primer but I don't want any gloss to it.
It will be a bc/cc job as I'm also pinstriping it and want to bury the striping in clear. I've decided on PPG's 2060 preflattened clear.
Now I'm trying to figure out what PPG color to use as my base. Basically I'm pretty much down to black or flat black as my choices from what the jobber told me....unless we experiment with custom mixes which I don't want to do in case I ever need more.
So what do you guys think? Flat or regular black basecoat? I've attached a pic of the look I'm going for as reference. Would love to see pics of any bc/cc jobs anyone has done, especially with PPG 2060 clear. Thanks.
