"041" – 3947041, also 3947041X. A good performance head. They were found on 1969-1970 302 and 350 engines. They had either 1.94/1.50" or 2.02/1.60" valves, 64CC combustion chambers, DO have accessory holes, Don't have port volume data for the regular 041, the 041X intake port should be 165CC's, the 041X exhaust port should be 65CC's. These heads have a single somewhat triangular shaped casting mark (slope on the upper left).

I'd say you got your money's worth.

You got hosed big time. I'll give you $75 for them just because I'm a nice guy and feel bad for you. Where do I send the money?

I'd say $50 is a fair price. Assuming they need to be rebuilt. If they have been recently rebuilt you got a deal. Nothing to get super excited about but its a decent head, worth IMO 50-75 a set in decent condition.

15 years ago they would have been worth 4 times that, but today you can get Vortecs for $50 a set sometimes, and by the time you figure cost to rebuild you're looking at a $550 set of heads that are 40 years old.

with only 10k miles, they have probably been rebuilt. For $50, it is a no brainer to use them, easy on the budget and capable of supporting decent hp #'s.

Don't be so quick to disparage these older heads. The 041/041x heads were some of the best factory performance castings GM has ever had, and with some work will run right in there with the Vortec castings. At a $50 outlay, on a head with 10,000 miles, he came out way ahead on that bargain.

FWIW, I have never seen Vortec core heads anywhere for $50, and for that matter if I had I would be having serious doubts as to their condition (ie cracks, major warpage, ect.)
