Good donor car.......or truck

Hello Guys

Ive been tossing around some ideas for my next project and I think ive decided. Im gonig to build my own hot rod Chassis and glass body. I know this sounds like an ambitious goal but im a welder by trade and have adone alot of glass work. My question (well.....my first of many) for you guys is what would make a good donor car for the front suspension. I wanna go to the bone yard and come home with the whole works. Control arms, steering rack, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

If you're thinkin' IFS and IRS with power R&P, take a look at the Jaguar XJ6. My best advice would be to purchase a running car, complete and use everything off it that you can, then sell what you don't use. Don't sell the hulk until you have your project on the road.

first or second gen RX-7,older corolla/mazda 1200 coupe, both are rear drive,240/60/80 nissan, older 924 porches are reasonable,928s are cheap but ugly, look up some 70s cars like cortinas, etc all small,,maybe a mini nissan/mazda/toyota pick up. not really sure what you like

I think the best plan is to probably wonder around the junk yard looking for a rear wheel drive with a front end that will work. thanks for the input guys

sounds like you are going to build the frame and just want the bits to make the front chassis? correct..

look at the 2003 up crown vic and grand mark
the front crossmember unbolts from the frame.. and is alum..

also.. the 1993-02 f body (if you are building the frame)
or the last of the b bodys, full frames.

Thanks E.Furgal. Yes that's the plan. My dads is putting a ford truck on a crown vic chassis so I could take a look to see if it will work for me.

Another issue would be the body style. If it is open-wheeled, or a narrow body... the frame would need to be something pleasing to the eye.

Hard to just name a chassis, without knowing what you have in mind.

Easy to find... sturdy... disc brakes... easy mounting of a V8 suggests, maybe an S-10 chassis.

...but will it work for the body style?
