Good idea or bad ?
 

I have a couple of air driers off of dismantled big rigs that I was thinking of using as driers on my six horse shop compressor. New cartridges and good drains. Anybody ever done this ? Good idea or bad. Fire away.

First welcome to the site Luckylogger :welcome: If you post this question in the garage tool section someone will come along and help you out. :thumbup: I don't know of anyone doing this but i don't see why it wouldn't work. Sounds like a pretty good thought to me. :thumbup:
But it wouldn't surprise me if someone hasen't done this on this site. :D

I don't have any idea of the size, but I would imagine if they are too big they may not work properly for the volume of air you will be using.

try it, i think it will work fine

doesnt a drier unload the feed line from the compressor on a truck? if that was the case then you'd have an open line from your tank to atmosphere. if not, or if you can get around it, you'd have to plumb in your governor to work the compressor limit switch, or make the limit switch work the blow off on the drier. the drier cartridge needs to be blown out each cycle for it to work properly, i believe.
