I'm already able to laugh about it, although there WILL be a picture of it on my "wall of pain", and there will never, EVER, be another Lokar product in any of my cars. I fully accept responsibility for turning the key while not being behind the wheel, but I accept no responsibility for the nss not working. These need to be bullet proof, idiot proof to install, and should require ZERO maintenance.

Sorry about your accident. Cars can be fixed though. I also have a trans mounted lokar and no matter how I adjust it it will start in P, N and OD. Obviously it's not good to have it start in OD, but I am aware of it and I'm the only one who drives it. Only time the key gets turned is with me sitting in it with a hand on the wheel and a foot on the brake. It is on my list of things to address eventually, but it is a ways down the line.

I read a post somewhere about somebody installing a very thin shim between the switch washer and the mounting boss. I tried it but then it would not start at all. Maybe it wasn't thin enough.

Write to Lokar. That's what I've done, although I've had no reply as yet. I don't expect anything from them, only that they address this evidently very common failing of their design. It's inexcusable.

There is no problem with a Lokar shifter and the NSS there are literally thousands in use around the country. I totally agree with IrelandsChild, get real you just screw it in and its done, check its operation and its good to go.

Mine is a th 400 instead of using shims check the set screw in the side to side spacers ,the instructions says 1/8 in clearance ,I read them AFTER mine would start in gear,

mine has two round plugs that slide in a recessed hole on each side of the transmission with set screws to hold them in place,then the cradle bolts to transmission tail shaft,and 2 small set screws 1/4 in.on top po keep it in place, mime is a th 400 with a 18 in vintage style shifter.

I remember the spacers that go in the holes on the side of my 700R4, but I don't remember any set screws. I will have to check.

the set screws I am referring to go straidht in the side ard fit into the cupped part, with a locknut to hold them in place if you left 1/8 in without locknut they would not stat tight.

lokar neutral safety swith.

I to am having trouble adjusting the safety switch on the Lokar shifter. Not happy with it at all. I have tried their way and all kind of ways does not work. However, I can make it work it will take me modifying the shifter so that it will work, it will start in Park and Park only. Lokar makes a good quality product but the neutral safety switch adjustment for a 700R4 does not work. I came here to see if there was an answer. I see I am not the only one who has a problem.

Are you using the one that screws into shifter or the one that attaches to a shifter rod ,the one on the rod seems to work best ,can be used for NSS or back up lights.
