Found two 1947 Desoto Suburbans in North Chicago, Ill on craigslist. I have been looking for this car for a long time. It was my first car when I graduated from Marine Boot camp in 72. Took the money they gave us to settle our pay and bought it in desoto county, missisipi. Man, the memories they bring back. Won't be able to go after them for 3 or 4 months so I will be getting a little ancy! These cars have the roof rack on top with a fold down third seat like a station wagon does. You can get real comfortable in the back with as much room as it has. I either have to hurry and finish my 40 Desoto or it will go on the slow back burner once I get these cars down to Dallas, Texas. What do you guys think? By a late model wreck chrylser like a 300 or maybe a Dodge Magnum as a parts car. Got a lead on a 55 Desoto Fireflite too with the hemi still in it!!!!!!

They are being paid for as we speek. The broker who handled the sale said they could stay in the warehouse till I have time to get them. Don't know what they look like just google 47 Desoto Suburban

I've spent a little time with these cars up close and personal.

You got a great deal, between the two you'll have all the bits and pieces you need (and then some) and the interior in one of 'em is in phenomenal shape -- if I were you, I'd leave that interior stock and concentrate on a mechanical restoration. It'll be a beauty!

Good luck, and clear off that plate - this one will keep you busy for a while, I suspect!

Thanks, and am I ancy to get them down here in the Dallas, Texas area. Just enrolled in a body course at the local college to fresh up my memory. Next is a welding course for the tig welder I bought at an auction for $50.00. Yes, it does work!!! Csn't believe the stuff I buy at those things.
