Red face got Screwed on E-bay

I know this is the wrong place for this but I only post in the engine section here so hope no one gets mad....

I sold a dual 4bbl intake for a chevy on E-bay, I used paypal so everything should of been ok. About 45days later the guy claims he didnt get the package. I provided and sent a copy of the receipt, so that should of been good enough. He claims he still didnt get it so he charged the cost back on his credit card. Needless to say once paypal got the chargeback they debted me 200$ because they didnt get paid on it. I tried calling him but he gives me the run-around. I called Paypal but they are claiming they cant pay me because he charged it back, and they lost money.

Just a heads up if you E-bay, watch out for a guy named 69bowtienova

About 2 weeks after I lost the intake and money I noticed he just bidded on some dual 4bbl carbs... probably for my intake manifold he stole.

Im going to money orders only....

Ben

Dont forget to leave negative feedback with a explenation of your situation. Also to avoid that again you can make sure you always ask to have the package signed for when delivered.

Your best recourse is through the "feedback" system on eBay................not much help, but people won't want to deal with him....under that name anyways.

Ben, That is terrible. Is he in my area? If so let me know. You don't have to swear off Paypal, just accept Verified users only. This means it will come from their bank account and not a credit card. I have done quite a few deals on e-bay and have never had that happen to me. I will keep an eye out for this guy though. I would contact e-bay if I were you and see if they won't freeze his acount to preven t him from doing this to other people

One other thing if you sent it via US mail you can get them involved as this would be mail fraud, they do not take it lightly.

yeah, for all packages I send via ebay, I always get UPS insurance and a tracking number. that way, if there's a claim that the package didn't show up, they either have the dude's signature proving him wrong, or they reimburse you the value (sometimes even more

just be careful, and happy bidding / selling.

I love ebay & PayPal but you need to be careful. Deal only with verified users. On an item that big, force the buyer to buy insurance. Only ship via UPS and watch the tracking # - virtually impossible to lose an item like he is claiming. Lodge a formal protest w/ ebaY & w/ PayPal asking that he be banned from further service. EbaY sales are a business and the above process is just part of doing business.

Where did you ship it? Town & State? Maybe one of our members lives near by?

hmm... Yeah you could take him to small claims or file on him or something. Or you could call about six of us up, spend 40 dollars on beer, 40 more on the rental of a chipper-shredder.

We'll go over there, feed him into the chipper-shredder and then drink the beer. I'm sure we'll find your intake.

I have sold a bunch of stuff on ebay with paypal. What you have to do is use UPS or FEDEX so you have tracking and delivery confirmation. It would at least give you a leg to stand on if you try to fight it. I think you should make ebay aware of the situation as well. I dont know, but they might help you rectify the situation.

I have over 500 transactions on ebay and use paypal mostly and never had a problem. I use the USPS delivery confirmation. It gets scanned when delivered and is trackable.

As far is the nova guy goes, He has an interesting bid history! LOL Thong undies, Pam Anderson posters and carbs, guess he puts on the thong, pastes a pic of Pammy on the seat next to him and goes cruisin!

Where is the guy located anyway?
