grand am from HELL runs!!!!

yes folks, strange but true. after driving thru town and just up and dieing, we replaced every part known to man, (do a search for "grand am from hell") and i ,,,okay my friend who works for chevy, he finally got down to business and checked all fusable links. we found that we had an internally broken wire from the + post on the battery, about 6 inches away from the post, the first extra wire you see that goes to a link then i think an actual fuse. about a 14 or 16 ga red wire. we cut it and reconnected it and PRESTO, the POS RUNS! IT RUNS IT RUNS IF FRIKEN'S BACK ON THE FRIKEN FRAKKEN ROAD MUTHA FRAKAS!

oh no, just me too! hell i always try to fix something that's FREE before i start throwing money at something. god! this friend of mine is a chevy mechanic too! yeah, i totally am p.o'd since it took him like 5 minutes to check every fusable link. this should have been done FIRST!!! i just didn't know where they all were. this one was stashed behind the battery under the negative cable. i didnt know how to check them either. he clipped one end of my test light to neg., then poked the probe thru the insulation on each side of every fusable link he could find until he found it.

it ran but wouldnt take gas. then i bought a new MAP sensor and changed the oil to get all the gas out and after i ran all the 7 month old gas out it runs really good. my tranny fluid is black looking so it's gonna go get flushed out. spent most of the day yesterday putting a stereo in. (i highly recommend to other old farts, the $80 Dual special at best buys. you have to ask to see their cheap stuff tho as it isn't displayed.) thanks for all help and i do realize one of you suggested in my very very first post that i check all fusable links first, but i didn't know how then. boy what a lesson learned!
