Great deal on heads & SR cam for 383 Will it work?
So I'm building up my 383. I found a guy that will sell me some trick flow 195cc heads, 64cc chambers, and solid roller springs. He would also sell me the cam he used with the heads which is a Howards 247/249 @.050, lift .585/.585, Lobe center 108, intake centerline 104. I can have it all on my doorstep for $850.
I would complete the setup with 1.5 roller rockers, new lifters push rods, billet distributor gear, victor jr., holley 750. On my 383 my static compression ratio would be 10.5 and dynamic would be 7.83 when taking altitude into account, otherwise it would be 8.56. I live in motana and my elevation is between 2,800ft to 4,500ft. Would this setup be capable of running on 91 octane, and no i cant get any higher than that in montana and yes the gears and convertor would be there to back it up Last edited by High School Hot Rod; 05-07-2012 at 10:32 PM. |

The car is a street strip setup, hopefully it will be a mean prostreeter someday. I know that is one hell of a lot of cam, he said he ran a 5000 stall behind it, and even in the same year camaro as mine and he went high 6's in the 1/8th. I do not want to go that high...4000 tops what do yah think?
