Last September I purchased a 1936-Ford 4dr/sedan/Street Rod in New York City and drove it back home to Minnesota. The trip was a good one, traveled only about 250 miles per day. I was surprised, the car with it's 327 engine w/overdrive, got an average of 23 miles per gallon. I think that is pretty good considering I traveled on Interstate I80 across many states including the Pocono and Appalachian Mountains. The car is a dream come true , it has air-condition, power windows, tilt steering wheel, aluminum wheels, all leather interior, electric bucket seats, etc... I really did not have any problems until I hit a bump near Chicago and the air-condition went out. I have not had time to check to see what happened. I found I80 across the eastern states to be a very rough ride. It is used by many truckers and most signaled with their diesel horns that they approved of my ride.. lol...If you perhaps were one of those truckers, thanks for keeping me alert while driving..The interstates got much better when I traveled through, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I have the car parked in my garage and looking forward to summer so I can go cruising.
My best wishes to all Street Rodders in 2006 and beyond.. take care..
