A guys I need help, I got an old coloumn cluster guage connected in a 84 olds. Not sure about the donor car. But the cluster mounts around steering wheel base. it has voltage on left then on right side it has temp and oil. All factory. All guages work except oil. The back has wires no oil tube to block. What gives? Who
Who made this cluster? How can I get oil to work? My engine is a lt1
these are the right side guages, front and back
i have the 3 plug connector but what sending unit can i use????
it doesnt have an oil line behind it SHRUGGS
a lot of factory guages didn't use oil lines they were all electric. I couldn't very easily get a picture of sending unit but it is a bulb with a electric spade sticking out the top and the underside has short nipple that threads into block.
There are 2 different sending units for the setup. One for a 60 pound gauge and one for an 80 pound gauge. Just be sure to check the specs when buying.
Okay Im looking at the guage and it stop at 60 so i need the 60lbs . Now my problem is the part store dont do frankenstien projects. Got into it with part store clerk. What do I ask for
Not too sure, but early 80 s chevy pickups use the 2 different gauges. Not sure wich ones but at least that is where I would start.
NAPA would be a good place to go, they could give you more specifics on the part itself, the Mc Parts guys dont have a lot of info like that, at least it seems that way.
The D 1829 looks like the unit, but then they are pretty much the same in appearance.I personnally dont know if that number is for the 60 pound gauge or the 80 pounder. Any body?
I'm not sure how you determined the D1829 part number ... but it does cross to a NAPA # UNI OP6640, which is fairly common ... quite likely correct for a GM oil guage. I'd try it. The worst that it will be is wrong.
