Goodstuff

Thanks for the work. It will keep me in line when I have second thoughts, or think I know it all.

misdirected

I have tried to read the "fuel system overview"section, but I always get sent to www.mtscadparts.com, which is the home site of Maximun torque Specialties. ? Problem at your end or mine?

Begginers Guide to Hot Rod Nirvana

I have a '55 Chevy that needs reassembly. I've upgraded all aspects of the car and now now it's time for reassembly. Trouble is that I've never reassembled an entire car before and I'm getting kinda nervous. Plus, I have this deep down need to do it right THE FIRST TIME!

I find myself wondering if I know how the heck to put this thing back together in some proper sequence. For example, I know enough to do the wiring before the upholstery for obvious reasons. What worries me are the not so obvious issues that I'm not aware of that can affect me in the same manner. Eek!!

The basic mechanics of how things work I understand. What I'm looking for is a guide or maybe a step by step procedure that I can follow to avoid having to rip something out after having installed it because I should have installed this other thing first. I want to avoid doing things twice so I need someone or some device to save me from myself.

Maybe this is a good topic for discussion?

need some ideas... please help

I was watching Barrett Jackson's auction on SPEED and I saw an old rust "rat rod" as they called it. I thought it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen and need one for myself. Right now I am a college student playing football for Salisbury University so I cannot start until I graduate in May. I figured I would get some ideas on here to make a plan. I know I want a t-bucket w/ a 14" bed... the only problem is I'm not sure what do think about for the motor. I have a 92' Jeep Wrangler that I was going to rebuild until I caught the bug. Is there any way I would be able to use the Jeep frame, rear, and axles to complete my rod? I am in the brainstorming stage so anything will help.

Just my advice

There is really nothing as I see it on that jeep Wrangler that would transfer. If that is your driver, you would be better off fixing it for transportation, or selling it and purchasing a better start. You might also consider the fact that a T bucket has very limited use from weather, comfort, storage etc. Had one and had lots of fun for a very short period of time then wanted something a little more practicle. Just my opinion, and I am no expert just experienced on owning a T bucket. Now building a Sedan so others can go with us in all weather conditions any where for any reason.

hi jb, looks like another one hooked i'm glad to see...i'm not sure what your budget is but rat rods r what u can find and salvage that makes your rod unique, but make sure it's safe as you,ve probably read already, i agree with retired scrap the jeep idea but thats just me if you really want to build your jeep you can remove the body and put an old tudor or 57 chev body (which i've seen done and looked quite nice) and rod it that way...engine choice is personal preference you could pick anything but i prefer chevy engines cuz they r so availeable and have so much on the aftermarket and reliable and make great power and cheap to do up and trannys r interchangable between big and small blocks, well almost, a little research is needed there.

re: Guide for beginner hotrodders

yea im not gonna touch the jeep for a while till i get my rod done... im soooo into it right now and want the rod soooo bad I'm willing to do anything possible. I've been looking online and asking around and I think the best way to get into it is buy one already built n runnin. Then as I go I will be able to put my own swing on things... tell me what you think?

hey hey i think you've been getting some great advice and sounds like you know what you want, that's really good...building something is not for the minor league backyard mechanic you really need some skills to start from scratch, so again i think your going down the right road, now it's just figuring out what you want cuz there's so much nice stuff out there, good luck keep in touch and let me know how the project goes...
