T Parts and Show

Hi, I always wanted a "T" bucket and finally built one. If I can give you any advise, build one with a long wheelbase, cause they ride better, and aftermarket frame, cause the original frames crack and twist. Better safe than sorry . If you want to save $$ go to swap meets. On JULY 12th 2008 there is going to be the *Model T&A Nationals Show/Swap/& Nostalgia Drags at Tulsa Raceway Park Drag Strip, in Tulsa Oklahoma. There will be a lot of T's to get ideas and questions answered...also lots of part at the Swap and from the New parts vendors You should be able to find anything you want, plus see some great cars and races. PLUS they have a Bikini Contest. I am going to be there with my T ! Hope to see you there, my car is called "NO Cruel 'T' "

Hot Rods can be a grate way to learn.

I found out when I was young ,that it is best to listen to the older guys about what worked and what does not. (but don't listen to a bULL****er) The good guys have long learned knowledge and can make hotrod building so much easier. Hey if you love Nostalgia Drags and Hotrods, Come to Tulsa,Oklahoma on JULY 12th, for the Model T&A Nationals Carshow-Swapmeet-Nostalgia Drags and Cruise.at Tulsa Raceway Park Dragstrip...Great Time and BIKINI Contest Show open to all T-buckets, Ratrods, woodys,Hotrods and Racers ! food music, and fun, just smell the nitro.....

Wow

Where has this site been all my life? This is by far the best site on the internet for any hotrod lover. ALOT of helpful info and I just found out about this site accidentally late last night. I'll be visiting this place quite often.
Great job.

Jon, your work is greatly appreciated. I am new to hotrodding and this site is a treasure trove of useful information. I will be reading all the stuff I can about hotrodding. Now, where's that new-fangled thang you call a 'dikshunary'?

I would like to suggest a chapter / section....

DON'T DO IT!!!

explain why most people that are just starting out should not do it... ie. usually cheaper to buy it done, time eater, many skills needed to master (welding, auto mechanics, body work, upholstery, wood working, electronics, fabrication, etc.), taking a car apart and losing stuff, and all the other reasons why not to do a vehicle build / restoration.

if this saves a car from a hack or if a newbie is not discouraged after reading this section... then maybe he can actually perform what is necessary to do a job right.

Thanks

Ziggy,

First, I'd suggest that you post any pictures you have by starting a new thread with an appropriate title. This will get you more viewers than posting them here in this thread.

There are two ways to post pictures on HR. Com:

A) USING YOUR PHOTO GALLERY

1) Click the "Photo Gallery" link at the top of this page
2) Click on "Upload Photos" from the list of links on the upper right just above the pictures that will appear on your screen. This takes you to YOUR gallery.
3) Click on "Browse" and find the photo you want from your computer's directory, select it and then click on "open".
4) Click on "Upload/Submit"
5) Insert a title for your photo and then click on "Process".

Now you can use this image in any post you might make, now or in the future. To insert the image in a post:

1) Enter the post editing screen by clicking on "Post Reply" or "New Thread"
2) Go to your Photo Gallery and click on the image you want to insert in your post. This should enlarge the image to full size on your screen. Then right click anywhere on that image and select "Copy Image Location".
3) Return to the post you are editing, click on the yellow icon with the little mountain on it (right above the words "Enhanced Mode" at the top of the edit screen) and then paste in the link for your image. Here is the icon you are looking for.

B) USING THE "ATTACH FILES" FEATURE.

This is the second way to include photos.

1) Enter the post editing screen by clicking on "Post Reply" or "New Thread".
2) Scroll down the page to "Additional Options" and find "Attach Files". Click on the "Manage Attachments" button.
3) From the screen that will appear, select the top "Browse" button. This will take you to the directory of YOUR computer.
4) Find the photo you wish to attach, click it, and then click "Open". The photo address will now appear in "Browse" box.
5) Repeat for any additional photos you want to attach by selecting the next Browse button.
6) Then click on the "Upload" button.
7) Once your photos have completed uploading, click the "Close this Window" button.

Your photos are now attached to your post as hyperlinks (in yellow) and they will appear as thumbnails at the bottom you your entry when you submit the post. You can test if they are there by clicking the "Preview Post" button below the edit screen. Many folks just leave the photos as thumbnails and then viewers can click and enlarge them if they are interested. This is particularly helpful for out members with dial-up/slow internet connections.

However, if you want your photos to appear at full size in your post, do this:

1) While still in the edit screen, click on the address of the photo you want to show enlarged (the hyperlink should be in yellow). This will show your image in full size.
2) Right click anywhere on your full size image and click "Copy Image Location".
3) Return to the post edit screen and click where you want the photo to appear. Then click on the yellow icon with the little mountain on it (see directions above) and then paste in the link for your image that you just copied.

This may all sound a bit complicated at first, but once you've done one or two it will fall right into place.

One final note. It is a good idea to size you photos properly so they will show up nicely in the post or on screen. You can size you photos using any graphics program (Photoshop, Paint etc.) If you don't have one of these you can download a free program from the Microsoft site called "Image Resizer". Just go to their site and do a search or you can do a Google search that should find it. I use 4 x 6 inches at 100 dpi for my photos...but you can vary that a bit bigger or smaller and still have good results.

It looks like a lot of the 500cid.com links (maybe all of them) no longer work. I poked around there site very briefly and couldn't find what I thought I was looking for.

If any of the more avid readers know of suitable substitutes, maybe we could get that list modified? I'd rather be a contributor than a whiner, but I'm just getting back into project-mode after a loooong absence and am pretty much rusty with no worthwhile resources to share.

Love the site, appreciate all the help.
