This is a great idea! I am knowledgeable as I built a 51 Chevy Pickup Rod,but I am gaining more knowledge reading from your work here.
My wish is to make some friends here that live in the border states to California so I can find a 30's pickup to build.Arizona an Nevada are preferred for a day drive on the weekends.
So I came here with the wish to make friends, and to start my retirement project.I understand California is looking to make a law to control what we build. If I don't find a title-able vehicle then I have to have a totally modern smog-able engine. I really like the idea of a flat head,or a small block like the Lake Racers developed.
So where is the buying section on how to's an how much?
Thanks for such a great site! Jules

Still Here

Hi, I am still here, and want to start something. The wife want's something to turn heads, but am a little confussed as to what to start off with?

I am new at this, though feel good about it as I have been with machine tools most of my life.

Can someone tell me what tools to start of with to get me started? Thank you.

Bob

what kind of car you want that will turn heads ,,,,that depends on what you think is sooo cool ...just stay away from the cars that everyone else has ,,, or else you WILL just be one in the crowd ...
tools ,,,, how much knowledge on cars do you have ??? craftsman - sears ,,,,kobalt - home depot (i think ) would be your best bet .. prices are good ,, quality good ,, and easy to get ..
if you are a first timer ,, find a project that has been done a long time ago ,,and re-do it ... don't want to get in over your head ,, spend way too much cash ,, and sell it for a loss ..
i have been doing this for over 40+ years ,,my project was dirt cheep ..but it needs a ton of work ..
check on e-bay ,,craigslist ,, and the for sale ads here ..
my avatar and first picture are the same car ..
