Post Is this guy on crack?

I was at work tonight and this guy was talking to me about his Blazer. He said it has a 4.6L V6 EFI in it. He told me that he took a grinder and and ground off the "air deflection piece" whatever that is. He said that it is a rounded off piece of metal on the back of the butterfly that manufacturers put on it to slow down air flow into the engine(why would they do that?). Anyways, he said that he ground it off and got an increse in power. Is this guy a whacko? Steve

Cool

I don't do EFI Steve. People do some CRAZY things to carbs so who knows, maybe this guy read something or got a wild hair up his A** and found something that works?

Be even more funny if he did it with the throtle body still attached. Which he probably did because he was talking about getting a Helix today, and who wants to dismantle it twice and buy 2 sets of gaskets. Steve

I might be wrong on this but if he said he has a 4.6 V6 in his blazer he is on crack anyhow. GM makes a 4.3 V6 but I have never heard of a 4.6 V6.

I was at work one day and this guy tells this story. He's going down to the Colorado River (Needles Az.) for a weekend of skiing (drinking). He and his buddys jump in the dually and drive down there. When he gets there, he opens the garage and discovers that someone has broken in and stolen the carb, blower, and manifold off the boat that was in storage. They proceed to remove the carb and manifold from the dually and put it on the boat. They ski (drink) all weekend then put the carb and manifold back on the truck and come home.
Well......the truck is a chev 454.......boat buick 455....tools...gaskets..coolant..ect???
Whacko??? Coke???
When he got thru w/ the story we (long time techs) all just busted up laughing.
Maybe this is the same guy!!! Turns out that we found out years later that he was on coke.
And I never heard of a 4.6 V6 either.

I was hanging out at my friends gas station one night waiting for him to get off. This crack head guy just shows up wanting to use the phone, then sticks around like we are long time friends. He starts tellin all these stories like how he had a 64 mustang with a 3 on the tree. Hmm, thats funny, cuz mustangs never had a 3 on the tree...it was 3 on the FLOOR. Then he said he was barbecuing one time and the propane tank blew up next to him but he didnt get hurt. People like these really need to get a life they are fooling nobody.

There are things you can grind off on a throttle body to make it flow better. IMO on a Stock 4.3 it is usually a waste of time.

BTW when he did all of this "work", he most likely got at least 50 MENTAL horse power gain. That is definately something you can feel with the butt dyno.

There is no 4.6 V6.

He probably meant 4.3 V6.

Ford has a 4.6 V8,However.
