H.E.I Question

Will a H.E.I from a sbc fit and work in a 96-98 chevy vortec truck engine?I'm trying to set one up with a quadrajet.

yes it will but do you plan to use a roller cam?

If it will work fine with the edelbrock aluminum intake,Quadrajet,and the H.E.I then yes I would use the roller.If not I have a compcams 440/440 inch lift flat tappet cam.Would That work in the vortec block?

You should install a bronze distributor gear with a roller cam.

Yes, the only issue is drive gear compatibility with the factory roller cam. GM sells a Melonized steel gear, it's OEM on engines with factoy rollers, the P/N is 10456413, should cost from 30 to 40 dollars. This has much better wearing qualities than either bronze or composite gears and will not tear up the cam's gear.
