H1N1 (swine flu)

My daughter just called this evening - her husband's lifelong best friend just passed away from complications of the H1N1 flu. He was 41 years old, a very successful contractor and was in good health. He left a wife and kids.

I'm posting this to only to remind folks that this is a very dangerous disease and that it doesn't affect just the young like we have been lead to believe. While regular flu shots are fairly scarce, these H1N1 shots have become even more scarce and when they are available, are destined for essential service folks. Please consider getting these H1N1 shots as soon as you can find them.

Sorry to hear that. If you listen to what news reports say, it is much more dangerous to young children, as they have never had any exposure to it before and have no immunity, while older may have been exposed to a form of it at one time in there life, or something to that effect.
I believe we are one of the states hit the hardest. There have been several deaths around the state from h1n1, and believe most countys have had cases of it.

Dave,

Sorry to hear of your family's loss.

If you don't mind my asking, what was the complications of the flu caused the death?

At present, we find the ingredients in the vaccine to be more scary than riding out being sick since we are relatively healthy. We know of at least two women approximately our age who had it and got through it with only a week of severe discomfort.

From what I have been reading all the problems have been with the injectable vaccine, has something to do with a preservative that's in it. There have been no problems associated with the nasal spray vaccine as far as I can tell.

rd - it was pneumonia with pulmonary embolisms from what we have told...... as far as the ingredients, for me, an OF, no problems. A child or pregnant woman, the manufacturer's use a mercury based compound that might be a contributor to autism or Asperger's Syndrome (which one of our grandsons has).

I just received my newsletter from our Texas U.S.State Senator Mr. John Cornyn and here is an excerp from it, concerning the H1N1 vaccine, that I thought might interest some of you.

Senator Cronyn wrote:
When I last wrote you from our nation’s capital, I told you about my concern over the Obama Administration’s inability to properly manage the distribution of the H1N1 vaccination, and my letter to HHS Secretary Sebelius detailing those concerns. Since then, reports have emerged that detainees currently being incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay have been receiving vaccinations that should be reserved for high priority U.S. citizens, such as pregnant women and children. I, along with Sen. Hutchison and Sen. Vitter, R-La., introduced a Resolution in the United States Senate calling for the immediate postponement of all H1N1 vaccinations to detainees of Guantanamo Bay until high-risk Americans receive them first. Like many of you, I am outraged that individuals suspected of plotting acts of terror against innocent Americans could effectively jump the line to get the vaccination ahead of our citizens who are most susceptible to the virus. The Obama Administration has sorely mismanaged the response to the H1N1 influenza outbreak, and these most recent developments only underscore that fact. I will continue to press Secretary Sebelius for action and work to ensure that Texans receive their fair share of vaccines.

First, is anyone surprised Obama would take care of our enemies before he takes care of Americans?

But maybe it is not all bad.

May those that love us, love us;
& for those that don't love us,
may God turn their hearts;
& if He can't turn there hearts,
may He turn their ankles,
so we may know them
by their limping.

(an Irish toast)

I got some interesting information about the vacine last week. I've been working in a large philadelphia hospital for the past several months and spoke with a head nurse about the H1N1 vaccine. She told me that many of the nurses, doctors, and herself are refusing the vaccine. The reason being the vaccine came out much quicker than a vaccine normally would. For this reasons they don't feel safe getting it.

I've been debating it as I am paranoid that I will get sick before I take my LSAT next month. She told me that the best thing I can do is stay out of college bars.

Oh and that Guitmo stuff is anti Obama BS, they recieved the same care under Bush. Think about it, the people being kept there hold important information ect. We don't want them dying after we spent god knows how much money to catch them. If a prisoner held info that could save lives it would be wise to take steps to prevent the loss of his life, obviously. And there doesn't seem to be much of a shortage, I keep tripping over places giving them out either for free or for $20

I got my Gitmo info from the newsletter of my State Senator, where did you get yours???

Oh, and if you are paranoid about getting sick before your SAT's then why not get one of those free shots that you have been tripping over??

I believe there have been 19 deaths related to H1N1 so far in IA. It is being reported that 17 are adults and 2 are children, I do not believe they are giving ages of those affected.

Oh that makes sense, I thought maybe you got it from Rush Limbaugh. I'm sure many Republican state senators are sending information like that out. Think about it though, would you rather we keep these terrorists we've captured healthy so we can potentially save lives with the intel they have. Or should we let them get sick and die and provide no help? Go rent the movie Sicko and skip to the end, theres an interesting piece of the high level quality of healthcare we provide those prisoners. That movie is a few years old, so no Obama around to give them flu shots.

I'm taking the LSAT not SAT's, two very different tests. If some of the doctors and nurses where I work are affraid of the vaccine, that makes me leary to get it.

Sorry I am just getting around to replying, Jett, but I've been outa town.

I would think that the Gitmo decision would not have anything to do with a particular party but just bad judgement and as far as "us" gaining anything from those Muslim Terroist, that will NOT happen. They march to a different drum and death makes them martyrs so threatening them with it just don't work. I think that we should send them to meet their Virgins ASAP. Keeping them alive damned sure won't save any lives but executing them WILL.

The SAT was a typo on my part and I know that there is a difference - - sorry about that.
