Hand built Hood hinges

These are hand made custom hood hinges.. The pictures will ride you through the process. These are for a CJ-TJ conversion. We call the Jeep ,"Baltoro".
1. Making an exact trace using paper.



2. Tracing it onto a metal sheet and then cutting the sheet using scissors..

Cuttung the same pattern in heavier guage metal sheet that will be used to make the hinge and then test fitting..

Look's good! Really nice job on rolling the steel to fit the pins. How long did it take to make those?

Those shears/snips sure are cool! The brass handled ones look old, check out the gas welds on the hood ! Interesting.

The hinges that yousee took a day to make. The rolling was done not on a press but using a hammer and custom made dies.. I will try and find pics of that too.

Marking and then embossing the metal so that the hinge plate is flush with the hood..

Hmmm.. I was planning a live workshop on the net for ppl.. This is a good idea too.. I can send a demo VDO to anyone interested. My wife will be visiting the states soon. She can bring the DVD with her..
