If any of you guys are using fuses bought from Harbor Freight recently you might want to keep an eye on them or change them out for something else.

I went in HF day before yesterday to buy some fuse kits to resupply my stock and was told they didn't have a fuse in the store, they had all been recalled.
The clerk couldn't or wouldn't tell me why but none the less there wasn't a automotive fuse of any sort to be had.....

I think I had read here (or over at the Team Chevelle) that they were faulty.
Would not blow even with a dead short to ground.
One of the posters noticed it when his wire started smoking and the fuse did not go. So he tested one, and it refused to pop.

You got to wonder who else sells them though too. I know I got some and the had a short and it just melted the plastic like they say. Bad news

I've been thinking that same thing..wherever I resupply from they are gonna have to show me on the carton where the fuses were manufactured!!

Actually I have started reading labeling closely and refuse to buy anything made in China and nothing made outside the USA if I can find it....even if I have to pay a bit more.

i;e you get what you pay for when it comes to electrical parts. I have'nt had any comeback's on electrial parts in 15 years. I only buy and install quality parts no matter what the cost.

jray, I'm afraid you are going to move into a shack in the woods, learn how to hunt and fish, and live off the land. But even then, the fishing rods, hooks and lures are made in China.
OK, make your own lures and plant a lot of vegetables.

Already live in a shack in the woods and got the hunting and fishing part down pretty good, just got to figure out how to get the wife to pull the plow for the garden!!

About two weeks before that first post here on the HF fuses I bought a box of each because they were on sale and as luck would have it I had installed two of the crappy things in different vehicles. One was for an electric fuel pump I had installed on a 79 Ford pick up for a fellow who don't live far from me so after finding out about them I just drove over and replaced it. The other one was for the A/C on a Chrysler that was by then in Michigan so I had to contact them about the fuse just to be safe, a bit embarrassing but lesson learned!

It's hard to believe the chinese can't make, or more likely, don't give a damn about making fuses that blow somewhere close to what they are rated. It's just a piece of wire for petes' sake!

Could be there is NO word's in their language for Quality Control. Combined with their discust for us Americans.

I think the problem is that they were probably made by a 14 year old kid working 16 hrs a day for $3 a week.

It'll end when the government actually does something to help the economy- imposing tarriffs steep enough to make importing garbage cost just as much as employing Americans to make a quality product.

Then we'll have decent jobs and be able to afford to buy a new car made (or at least assembled ) in America.

Ditto with the auto industry. Why can't we do what Japan did? I dare say they will not allow more than 15% of vehicles sold be imported from outside of Japan. I'm all for competition, and there is with Civics being made in Ohio, Toyota pickups in Texas, and Hyndias (some korean car) being assembled in Alabama.

This won't solve all of our problems, but I feel that healthcare is due in part to government policy as well as illegal immigrants getting special rights.
