hard pedal

what would cause a hard break pedal my neighbor a new break master cyl on his 60 international 3/4 pickup he ask me if i would know why the break pedal is hard it dont go down at all

not always the case.. I had a '92 Ford ranger that, would blow out the check valves at the booster, and often times would leave the hose connected enough to not effect the idle, but not enough vac to operate the brakes.. then one day the valve wasn't busted so I figured the booster was.. when I went to get numbers off the booster for the junkyard, I found the vac line split wide open underneath..

stuck wheel cylinders and or calipers will give ya a no give pedal.

Is the bore of the new master cylinder the same as the original? If it is larger, it will give you a harder pedal.
