hard to steer

We just had a discussion on this topic within the last month I think. When I did a search I couldn't find the thread though. I do remember that the 52 Chev had power steering as an option. I don't know if the 50 did or not. But I would assume that both years used the same box. You could check out a Hollander manual for interchangeable boxes as well. Check out ebay and Hemming's site for possible boxes for sale. As well put a free wanted ad in the classifieds. Good luck.

I would get in touch with These guys I think they may have the things you need..Chev did not have intregal power steering until 1965..before that it was the pump and ram system..You may be able to adapt a later intregal style steering box..the pump just takes a bit o fiddiling to get it mounted to the engine..

I have tried most all of it and now do what is known to work..

is your steering hard when the car is not moving only or is it hard all the time. my '51 is very hard when it is not moving but loosen's right up when moving. the power unit from a '53-'54 will work, but it's going to run some$ I'v heard about reversing the box/unit from a 80's Astrovan ( 2wd ) and they are supposto fit right togther
