Harmonic Balancer SBC HELP

Hey just got a quick question here. Honoustly how much difference does one of those expensive aftermarket lightweight harmonic balancers make from a stock GM one. The application is a 383 stroker which will never see over 6000rpm, I am planning on picking up a used stock one but first I want to know if an aftermarket one if worth it or not.

Thanks,
Keith

Personally, I would not put on a used one. If it's been oil soaked or really old, the outer ring can and sometime does slip some, making timing setting near impossible.

If your engine was balanced, the balancer should have been done along with the rest. If you can swing it, go new, whether stock GM or decent aftermarket.

The rotating assembly has been internally balanced before it was shipped. I didnt get the flexplate or harmonic balancer since they are both neutral weight for 350's and all other internally balanced engines. I will buy a new Gm one I think they can't be too expensive. Thanks.
