harmonic balancer/torsional damper

does anybody know how to tell if a damper is damaged? My 6.25 " nuetral balance Fluid Damper is on my 360 ci SBC after taking a fall off the table, no dents or noticable damage but now the engine has a vibration that comes and goes at all rpms. What is the useful life of a Fluid damper?
Does a side impact to a damper of this type damage it's effectiveness?

Thanks to all,
Roy

About the only thing I can offer would be to try a different balncer just as a test. Even a stock one should be good enough for you to determine whether or not the issue is a balancer / damper or somewhere else.

Do you have a Fluid Dampr

or

a Fluid Damper

Fluid Dampers are over seas knock offs, and crank manufacturers do not recommend their use(Eagle, Scat)

My balance guy tells me that the life of a fluid damper deteriorates fast after 3 years.

From a Speedtalk thread Which is the best harmonic damper?:
Quote:
One thing about a fluid filled damper is that external damage to the case, (hammer blow, mishandling or other incident) can stop the inner ring from moving.
