I hope you don't mind Jon but I have to get this off my chest, it is burning a hole.

Let me tell you a little story...

Once upon time there was a club, it's name was RBBO. A nice club who's members sole goal was to help each other build their hot rods. Now when I say "members sole goal" this seems to apply to the members not the manager or a select few asst managers, their goals are very unclear. I myself was an asst. manager who's job it was to monitor the forum, it just so happens that I created that forum for the club...that's just the kind of guy I am. I faithfully did my job as asst. manager since it's inception and everyday I would go through the postings and make sure things were running smoothly, it wasn't a hard job as the postings were maybe one every day...if that.

Well one day during my holidays I went to the site to check up on things and it would seem that I had been banned from the club?! Since I was on holidays I only checked the site once every two days during my holidays so it must have happened in between those two days. In fact I posted a photo of the kids playhouse I was building ( on my holidays) in my last posting. I thought it must be a mistake so I sent out e-mails to the asst.managers to find out what was going on? Low and behold I was not the only one who was banned, the only people who did not respond were the perpetrators of the crimes...that much I have found out. It would seem that once the site had been created and all the work was accomplished, two of the managers decided upon themselves to stage a coup.

I had initially thought that I was not doing a good job so maybe that was why I was banned, there was some accusation that the manager made regarding some language used in the forum (not by me) but this has turned out to be bogus. Alas (a member told me) the reason I was banned was because I post very regularly at this forum? What can I say, guilty as charged.

I would normally not let this bother me but the fact is I spent many hours for the club doing webmaster type stuff and also made many good friends in the club. The fact is most of the communications were e-mails sent back and forth amongst the members, not postings in the community pages. I could understand firing me and getting a replacement, but banned?!

Some of you will remember when the club used to be part of this very website but because of some nutty politics the club left and formed it's own community. I tried my best to make the split amicable and even attemted to broker a peace, a position I was forced into. I guess this is what they mean when they say nice guys finish last.

Kicked in the stomach and stepped on for no good reason is how I feel and I know I am not the only one who has been affected by this, that's why I am posting this. It would seem faithful, tireless, unpaid service is not good enough anymore. I guess I don't kiss enough booty to be considered a good member, and to tell you the truth....

I really would like to hear from any other members (current or banned) of the RBBO club to relate their experience. Use an alias if you are worried about retribution.

sorry about your club experience.i did not join that club or any other for the last 15 to 20 years for reasons you specified. that, better than that person(s) ,ideology just rubs me the wrong way. we all put our pants on the same way,look & smell bad while on the commode,must eat & drink to survive. just my .02 but the 10 commandments arent a bad way to live!

You know chuck this has taken me by surprise. Just the other day I found someone else (name withheld) who was banned from RBBO. Who knows, I may be next. I don't know? The hole separation thing was rather weird. I didn't post for a while to give me time to think. Just an occassional here and there. I actually thought RBBO was going prettty smoothly and that some members just stopped showing up. Now I guess I know different. I will say so far I am still considered a member there and enjoy the chat room feature with other members, but I am sorry to here about this other stuff. Roger seems to be running the most of the show over at RBBO now. I don't know what the future holds but for now I'm still posting in both forums, I just find it hard to believe that Roy would ban you and others from RBBO just because you post here. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

The worst thing is DM is I have not received an explanation? My e-mails go unanswered and all I know is gleaned from current members who are just as surprised as you and I. I beleive that some manipulation of Roy is taking place and I am sorry to see that, he is not well.

Oh well I guess it could be worse, I could have done the job for years and have this happen. At first I was so angry I could have killed, but now I am just glad I didn't have any more time invested.

4 Jaw I went to the RBBO site a few times,tryed to sign up once some how couldn't.Anyhow That site can't touch this one as far as I'm concerned I couldn't understand why so many people hang there.I'm in another club specific to Monte Carlo and I only post here and there,its just not Hotrodders.com.This site is relaxed good tech questions and alot of good ole B.S.
So if they want to ban you Screw um!! Hang here we'll take you.Hell any site that hasn't banned me for being a WiseGuy is cool by me.Anyway I bet RBBO don't evan have a Chevelle girl.See????

Man chuck I wish we had a chat room here now. Yes there have been some definate changes lately at RBBO that until now I hadn't really thought about. Guess I just wasn't paying to close attention. Besides the dissapearence of some members, the whole RBBO staff news along with all it's posts were removed recently. Yes it appears to be Roger,David (Henry Highrise), and maybe Roy calling all the shots now. Officially they are the only "managers" now and do not include "members" in the decision making process. Like I said right now I am just a "member" over there and apparently don't have a clue as to what the management is up to. When we first got the new site going I used to get e-mails and hear from Roy on a regular basis (once he actually e-mailed me to help a member of this board who had e-mailed him for help-that showed cooperation). But I haven't heard from him in a long time and things have definately changed. It used to be a group of guys making group decissions, not any more. I just don't know what went wrong?

I'm still with RBBO but do more posting here, I like it here. I go over there everyday but the activity is down, when it was here there was a lot more activity.The people over there are very knowlegable and do some things I would never attempt.I like them guys over there and wish it would pick up a bit.I was one of the first members there and here.I like it here because people are nice and a lot of them need advice because they're novice (no offence intended)and a lot of us have more experience than we deserve,I also am with several other sites but this one cooks and usually come here first even before I check my mail

I came into the picture just as the club seperated, checked out the site, and it just didnt do it for me. I guess when you spend all your online time searching for car stuff, this where you hang yer hat. When all the pop-ups and windows and winged monkeys get too overwhelming, it`s nice to come home where you can get a good laugh and just hang!

Your right DM, when I was monitoring the board I had the community set up to automatically let anyone join. Seemed like the right thing to in my mind, this is no longer the case. Deleting the message boards was an attempt to cover any tracks that might be left and remove any mark I may have left on the club.

The funniest thing is they may have banned 4 Jaw Chuck, but they didn't ban the other 4 alias that I was using to test the board during it's creation. So unless they want to remove every member in the bid to rid me from the club they are stuck with me and my four evil alias. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!! (And you thought you were evil HK!). One of them is a "hidden" manager who still has full access rights to all of the community tools and full manager functions, a quirk of MSN communities that non-geeks would never know about. (Thank you MSN tech support!).

I of course would never do anything nasty but you know I would still like an explanation, in case your interested here is the last and only e-mail I received from Roy (David Shands never replied to any of my e-mails);

Charles when I got your email today I do have to tell you I was not a happy camper. This was the first email I had got from you for a long time In fact over three months .My grandson came to visit one weekend And we were looking at the web sites and then I went to the board to show him. Well guess what there was things he should not see and four letter words. I just could not believe that someone had done this. At the time we had about 10 managers and all I know is one of them had to do this. I did not pick anyone out I took it off the site and cut all managers. I was the only manager for a long time but I have a ************************************** work. Roger had been helping me since I started the web site doing pictures and other things for me because all I had was webtv. So I ask roger to help me do the board and there was only me and him. Funny thing is I never received any e-mail from him either? As you can see a very cryptic message and none of the things he had mentioned about inappropriate language were true (I checked). The message is also incomplete, very strange. It does tell me who is pulling the strings though. The asterisk section is personal information that is not appropriate to share. So there you have it folks, this is everything I know.

I wonder how they figure to have a club with no members?

This is my virtual home, if I could find a way to stay here all the time I would. I can't though I've always been a loner, but decided to try the "club" thing...I think I'll stay a loner.

A club to me should be a group of people with a common goal, but also a group of people that don't lose focus on comroddery and brotherhood. A club should be a group of people that help eachother, BS with eachother and look out for one another. Thats just some of the things I think a club should be, but there is much more.

I'm a laid back person, the type of person that tries to have fun with everything. I'm also the type of person that will do everything in my power to take care of, look out for, and help anyone who has helped me or proven themselves as a friend. Yes, I have fun, yes I do use colorful language, and yes I am a beast, but I am capable of adaptation. So rather banning me I would have apreciated and still would apreciate an exsplanation, maby before I was kicked I would have had been happy to adapt my ways or at least have had the chance to choose my fait. I feel that this was cowerdly. I beleive in confronting your demons, even if they happen to be me.

I have accepted help from many of the current as well as past members of the RBBO and I still consider them as good people. I think the club has a good idea and principle concern, helping others with the knowledge you have. However, I do think that the way they ejected me was cowerdly and above all rude. I spent 17 straigh hours drawing up T-shirt ideas for the club and I got this done to me.

Now, I have added my $17.52, I will indeed still help the ones whom have helped me. So now that this is all over with, I waist no more typing, and I'm ready to go chase some nurses, how about it Chuck???

Tom, Monte, you couldn't be more right. This is a great site with lots of varied interests and is one of few rare sites where everyone seems to get along. I have been burned at other forums before (usually by arrogant regulars, I hope I'm not! Ha Ha!!) and I mainly joined the RBBO just to be able to post in the restricted forum at the bottom.

Tom you could say that I enjoy sharing any knowledge I might have learned over the years and seeing new posts makes me remember things I had forgotten or taken for granted. It's all just good clean fun for me and has turned into a hobby that I enjoy partaking in everyday, I just hope the boss doesn't check the server logs to see where I spend my...ahem...break time.

Well chuck, that's the most rediculous letter I've read in a while. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out whose posting what. If you have a problem with a member you work it out. I have been following the posts at RBBO since the beginning and never noticed anything obscene. God knows what "things he should not see" is all about. Ok, maybe HK was a little too wild and crazy (yea right) for RBBO but you chuck????? I'm adding 2 plus 2 here and coming up with 5.
