Hatchback trim trouble

I am working on a 1973 Vega station wagon with the rear lift door. I had to remove the glass, trim, and gasket on that rear hatchback to clean out all the rust and paint the car. I am in the process of re- installing the outside trim around the glass. The little metal clips that held the trim in place have all rusted away and fallen apart, and I can not find replacements anywhere.

Anyone know what to do in this situation? Should I try to use silicone caulk and glue the existing trim in place, or is there some type of flexible trim I could substitute in its place that would be better? All the angles to the trim are sharp. Thanks

Will these work? it says 71-72 but I would think they would be the same.

What ever the case you need to get the correct clips, they ARE available somewhere and do it right.

Do you have a sample you can snap a photo of?
