Have a 1950 F-1 ford p/u and want to change the frame to something later model

Hello, could you recommend a specific frame I can put my 1950 ford 1/2 ton p/u on that will allow me to drop with air bags Perferably a ford chasis. I am open to a car or truck chasis. which ever you reccomend. Thank you.

IMHO frame swaps are a lot of work without much benefit.

Lots of guys like the S10's because they share some suspension parts with certain mid-size GM cars. I have always preferred to see guys use the frame they have and modify it as needed. Either way it's a ton of work best tackled by those who lots of time, plenty of equipment and a shop where they can do a long term project.

The F-1 adapts to a Jag front suspension very easily... it's almost a bolt-on. But if all you want to do is lay frame then I guess maybe an S-10 frame is in your future.

You can graft on an S10 front clip fairly easily but you'll need good fabricating skills and the right welder and cutting tools.

I have seen MANY projects, car and truck, get abandoned after the owner toss's the original frame then attempts to make another work...

Good luck.

I'am in the same boat. Got a f1 that needs the frame done and I think on this a mustang or jag. is the way to go and use old frame.

I agree about having the skills and equipment to do this job. It's alot of work.I am currently building a 48 F1 and I used a Chassis Engineering bolt on M11 susp.Very easy to install. Also using a TCI leaf spring rear.Good luck with your F1.
