Hello guys sorry about another post but having issues with my carburetor being too rich. It wants to spit and sputter regardless during the rpm range I have it at while driving. It seems to want to drop a cylinder here and there too and it did the same thing with my old HEI so I am taking it's the carb.
Engine specs
Quick Fuel carburetor with 70Primary and 78 Secondary jets
350 SBC
9.6 to 1 CR
Eagle 200cc dart heads ported
Edelbrock rpm performer airgap
Current cam Comp Thumpr roller 243/257 @ 50 duration 537/517 lift. 102/107 lsa
Cam to put in place of it in a few weeks
Lunati Voodoo 60112 231/239 @ 50 with 545/550 lift. 106/110 lsa
Hei 65000k distributor with adjustable vacuum canister.
Timing will be set at 12-16 degrees with full timing coming in no more then 32-34 once I get my timing light to set.
Ok hope that is enough. I am getting to much fuel from my carburetor wich is a quick fuel Q series carburetor 650 cfm mechanical secondary. I have went down two jet sizes in both the primary and secodary and have reset my fuel bowl level to just becoming level with the site glass. I had to buy a new set of plugs cause its all not getting burned cause I can smell the fuel on my plugs.
I know the massive amount of almost 35 degrees of overlap of the thumpr cam is not helping none but I am tring to get the thing to lean out enough to run this thing till I put my next lunati voodoo cam in wich only has 15 degrees of overlap and will not require as much fuel.
This carb is killing my engine and I don't know what else to do with it. If its too rich with the cam I have now the next one will be totally dunked in fuel. I am using autolite 26 spark plugs gapped at .045. I can go down more in jet sizes but don't want to have it to lean. Do you feel I have too much carb for my engine setup? I paid over 600 buck for the thing and its just too rich but yet when put in gear it wants to stall so go figure. Vacuum advance is hooked up as well. Any direction I should take? Get another carb and sell this one? Will it be too much for my next cam I put in it from above?
Thanks guys.
