Head Choice for Fod 302
Looking to make a final decision on heads for my 302 and I'm looking to draw on others experience.
I'm looking to build a high revving (read 8K) engine.
It'll be an all forged bottom end (around 9.6->10.0 compression), running a solid roller cam and I've been looking at the following heads.
Jegs/Kaase canted valve
Twisted wedge R series
One thing that does matter to me is overall engine height.
Does anyone have a strong opinion one way or the other?
or another alternative for that matter?
Hmmmmmmm.....8k huh! Well that ain't no street car then is it? ;)
The AFR 185 doesn't belong in the mix with TW-R. Step it up to the 205 and then you're talkin'. :thumbup:
The J/K head is in a class of it's own.
What are the cam specs?
Yeah I was thinking about it after I posted and the 205's are probably a better match with the others. All three might be overkill.
It's a toy ;) , It'll see some track time, and it'll see some regular streets too.
One of my criteria for the car is a high revving engine, it's mostly just an aesthetic thing, I grew up in england on high reviving 4 cylinder engines and as much as I love the sound of a good old American V8, I just want them to rev higher ;)
The car will weigh <2000lbs so I don't really need massive amounts of low end grunt.
Still messing around with cam specs, the owner of the machine shop whos doing the prep work says his son is a wiz when it comes to cams so I'm going to listen before I make a decision.
I wanted to finalise the head choice do I could get it to the machine shop.
