Head Identification

If I take off my valve covers to check my head number will I have to change my gaskets afterwards. Was wanting to know my heads casting number for a centerbolt 350sbc. 87-95 model

Maybe. Really depends on the type and how long they've been on there. If they've been on there for 100k, their probably destined to leak soon anyway. If you know the vehicle and year that the engine was originally in you may be able to do a google search to find the heads that were used that model year. For example try googling: 1987 corvette head casting numbers. When I googled it, it came up with a list of the heads used on every year corvette. You can also try mortec.com
